First, you need to be compassionate with your spouse’s feelings. Do not always think of yourself and your problems. Sometimes without noticing it your spouse might be going through a hard time but due to your reactions he/she find I hard to talk about it. It is good to check out how your behavior and reactions affect your spouse.

Secondly, you should know that communication is a two way line. One should express themselves with the other listening. You should really learn how to effectively improve your listening skills. There is a difference between hearing and listening. If you are watching a movie and the kids are playing; you are listening to the movie but you can hear the kids’ noises as they play.
